An Appeal to support the move of Fast unto death by RTI activist – Mr
Krishnaraj Rao, in protest against C-SIC selection in Maharashtra
We all are aware that Mumbai RTI activist - Mr Krishnaraj Rao has
undertaken a fast-unto-death today at Ralegan Siddhi (in Aurangabad
District in Maharashtra) to protest against the unlawful selection of
the Maharashtra State Chief Information Commissioner (which was
scheduled today afternoon).
He has chosen to underatake the fast at this place where the noted
Gandhian - Shri Anna Hazare has launched many a protest to show the
right path to the Mahrashtra Government - to curb corruption, have
better implementation of RTI Act etc. Shri Anna ji has himself
undertaken fasts, "maun"s etc. on this sacred land, which has
inspired Mr Krishnaraj Rao too to do likewise in order to force the
Maharashtra Government to follow proper procedure (by advertising in
print and electronic media for the C-SIC's post seeking applications
from candidates etc.) to select the best candidate for this important
post.
I fully support this move of Mr Krishnaraj Rao . I am sending
memorandums to the Chief Minister , The Governor and other authorities
of Maharashtra with the similar demand as raised by Mr Krishnaraj Rao
.
To me , the issue is not limited to the state of Maharashtra only .
All RTI activists across the country shall agree that the state
info-commissions of all the states and the central info commission is
facing the same problems.
From the memory lane, I remember that in November 2009 a nationwide
movement to demand Open Central CIC Selection was initiated by Mr
Krishnaraj Rao . Inspired by his efforts , I raised an online petition

The Petition got support of the nation with 346 Total Signatures with
appealing comments.
At this point of time , I am appealing to all RTI activists across the
nation and abroad to extend the much needed support to Mr Krishnaraj
Rao's protest movement to make it a success all the way . Please flood
the Maharashtra authorities with mails , letters , phonograms ,
phones etc. and compel the Maharashtra Government to bow-down to the
demands of the RTI activist Mr Krishnaraj Rao .
Moreover I request all the RTI activists to see the possibilities of
moving all the way to Ralegan Siddhi (in Aurangabad District in
Maharashtra) for morale boosting of protesters and pressure building
on the Maharashtra Government .
