Power board's PIO adjudged best by SIC

PATNA: Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB)'s public information
officer (PIO) Arun Kumar Sinha has been adjudged Bihar's best PIO by
the State
Information Commission (SIC).
Sinha will receive Rs 20,000 and a citation as award from chief
minister Nitish Kumar at a function scheduled for November 12.
SIC has instituted the award with a view to encouraging those PIOs who
have performed well in delivering information to information seekers,
Bihar chief information commissioner A K Choudhary told TOI on
Tuesday.
Three other PIOs __ Jaya Laxmi Shivam of Muzaffarpur district
magistrate's office, Phooleshwar Paswan of cabinet secretariat and Dr
Sudhanshu Singh of Patna Medical College __ have been selected for the
second prize of Rs 10,000 each.
B P Singh of Patna High court, Bhola Chourasia of Lalit Narayan
Mithila University, Chandrabhushan Pathak of Bihar legislative
assembly secretariat, Dinesh Choudhary of commercial taxes department
and ex-Gaya SP M R Nayak have been selected for the third prize of Rs
5,000 each.
"The winners were selected by a special committee on the basis of
fixed parameters," Choudhary said and added that he would urge the
state and Centre to provide funds for instituting a similar award for
the citizens who are making the right use of the Act and showing path
to others.
SIC has also decided to award the school and college students who took
part in the essay and painting competitions organized by the
commission as part of its efforts to spread awareness about the Right
to Information (RTI) Act.
