RTI activists want Advani to skip CIC selection meeting

New Delhi, Nov 18 (PTI) Magsaysay award winner Arvind Kejariwal today
wrote to Leader of Opposition L K Advani asking him not to attend the
selection meeting for the post of Chief Information Commissioner (CIC)
till the process is made transparent.
Kejariwal and a few RTI activists have also written to Prime Minister
Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi demanding that the
next CIC be appointed through a "transparent, inclusive and
participatory" process.
The selection committee comprising Prime Minister Manmohan Singh,
Leader of Opposition L K Advani and Law Minister Veerappa Moiley is
likely to meet on Friday evening to decide on the appointment,
official sources said.
